Whatever will be, will be | Portrait Photographer

When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother
What will I be
Will I be pretty
Will I be rich
Here’s what she said to me..

Que sera, sera
Whatever will be, will be
The future’s not ours to see
Que sera, sera
What will be, will be When I grew up and fell in love
I asked my sweetheart
What lies ahead
Will we have rainbows
Day after day
Here’s what my sweetheart said

Que sera, sera
Whatever will be, will be
The future’s not ours to see
Que sera, sera
What will be, will be

Now I have Children of my own
They ask their mother
What will I be
Will I be handsome
Will I be rich
I tell them tenderly

Que sera, sera
Whatever will be, will be
The future’s not ours to see
Que sera, sera
What will be, will be
Que Sera, Sera

This week I realized that I’ve been seriously slacking in taking pictures of my kiddos. Time seems to slip away like sand through an hour glass these days. I was looking through my websites and online galleries and realized how long it had been since I really sat down and photographed my daughter. It was time.
So in my typical fashion, I put together a very last minute photo-session. As I stood curling her hair for a roller set I smiled to myself. She has grown up so much this past year, and is turning into such a little lady. I paired together her new favorite jeans (I can’t believe she is finally willing to wear jeans lol) complete with bejeweled pockets and her new favorite cheetah print top. I told her she had to cooperate, which is more often than not a feat because at 8 years old, she is all about silly faces and poses.
I want to debunk the idea that because I am a photographer, that my kids always cooperate LOL! If only that was the case. I’m still in shock at how well she did for this session; I think it really helped that I surprised her by bringing her easel and painting stuff.
My goal with this session was to capture Nevaeh as she is right now at 8 years old. I wanted to include what she is most passionate about; art. We were blessed with AMAZING Central Washington light (CAN’T BEAT THAT) and some new wicked awesome locations that are literally 5 minutes from my house. I’ve enjoyed scouting in our new location, and it has been really nice to be able to bounce back from Portland to Central Washington, giving me a HUGE array of different types of locations to shoot in.
From the bottom of my heart, I love this session, and I love just about every single image I captured. These images truly show my daughter in all of her personality and beauty. I’ve fallen back in love with portraits yet again. I really am enjoying including things that my subjects are passionate about, and this session just goes to show how fluid this idea can be captured.
Hopefully little man will cooperate as well as his sister this week when I attempt to photography him LOL Could I be so lucky?? 🙂
